I bought a DPMS LPK and the thing is serverely out of spec. It is out of spec enough that when the safety is inserted you cannot switch it from safe to fire because it is catching on another part. How do I handle this?

What is it catching on?

Does it fit all the way into the receiver and rotate without hanging?

Did you follow all the steps in order here?

Cock the hammer?

It is hitting on the trigger assembly. It won't go in past the first hole. I followed the assembly instructions exactly. This is like my 3rd or 4th build so I'm sure everything is as should be.

Try another selector switch. Even one that's already in another rilfe, to verify whether it is the lower or switch that is out of spec.

Is the hammer cocked?  If not, it will hit the side of the trigger like you describe.  If it is, I would guess the lower is out of spec before the parts kit.

I tried it with the hammer cocked and uncocked and neither worked. I tried my other LPK in this lower to see if the lower was the problem and it worked fine.

Mine did the same thing...

My solution...Install the selector first then the trigger.

Works every time.

I just got out the dremel and knocked down a high spot and got it to work.
