I have 5 DPMS 19rd. 308 mags.  Two came with my DPMS 308 and 3 I purchased from DPMS thru my dealer.  All 5 are steel.  I've seen some unfavorable comments on steel magazines here and other forums.  Anyonbe have any experience with these mags. good or bad?  TIA

Thank you 44MAG.  I don't know what the knock is on steel mags. except the possibility of rust.........I haven't had a problem with any of the ones I have.  Just wanted and opinion from someone with more exp. than I've got (any experience would be more)

I was just looking at your site today and will probably be ordering some of your 20rd. straight mags. in the next few days.

I don't know why the 19 rounds capacity.  The good part is that DSPM supplies 2 with each rifle.

If you have a DPMS 308 the factory mags are your only option. I have had only positive experiences with these magazines and I bet you will too.

ETA: Shameless 44mag.com plug for DPMS 308 magazines at $28.99ea www.44mag.com/prodinfo.asp?number=DPMA3082

I thought they were directly compatible with SR-25 magazines.

Is there some reason why the capacity of these mags is 19rds instead of the more usual, not to mention more conveniant, 20rds?

Probably because they were tired of hearing people whine about not being able to get all 20 rounds into brand new mags.

So are they never capable of loading 20 on a closed bolt once broken in?

From what I hear, DPMS are cheap and reliable, hence the reason I am going with DPMS rifle for my 308 AR once I decide to make the move.

In theory the DPMS 308 mags are  compatible with the SR25 but in my experience the DPMS mags are slightly oversize for the SR25 magwell.

SR-25 mags work just fine in the DPMS however.  In fact you can replace the springs in the DPMS mags with SR-25 magazine springs to get 20 round capacity.

If I remember correctly DPMS explained it as a a ban issues, wheather current in some states or possible future capasity laws.  Don't remeber exactly, just remember my thought at the time was they were probably using that as an excuse to cover for a counting error in engineering.  I am a big fan of the rifle and had a superb experience with thier service dept, so I am not bothered by the 19 count.
