Other than drilling for gas tube, are there anyother issues that would keep one from working for a rifle caliber? I like the slick side no foward assist and no shell deflector, but i like the door, i have a couple DPMS LoPro and ther great but for my next build i would like the door. anybody have any experience in doing this? Thanks, Paul. |

I think you will also need to cut the cam pin relief out. I checked with Rock River about doing a run of receivers and they wanted a minimum order of around 240 receivers. If you have access to a Bridgeport Mill it won't be very difficult to make the modifications. I really think that Rock River Arms is missing a huge opportunity as I've seen several posts wanting the very upper receiver described. PursuitSS |

I just went down and pulled out my Oly .45, its actually has a Rock River 9mm Flat top that i bought and had Kurt drill and install the Oly ejector, I didnt like having the foward asst and shell deflector of the original flat top that Oly used, anyway it looks like the cam pin area is milled out on this upper, this upper i bought about 3 or 4 yrs ago. did Rock River stop milling this area out on their present uppers? Sun Devil Manufacturing makes what you describe. Slickside, no FA, no deflector, with the door made for a rifle carrier. I bought two; one for a 22, and one for a 9mm build. They are very nice. Ranier shows having them in stock for $150 Sun Devil Upper @ Ranier Arms |
