I would like to put  compact  on a middy AR.
I have looked at a few I liked but are "shotgun scopes".
The parrallax is at 50yds. vs. 100yds for most rifle scopes.
What problems would show up if using a shotgun scope on an AR at longer distances?
Any info to clear this up or info on a scope to fit the bill would be great.
TIA!

What kind of budget do you have? What kind of distances will you be shooting?

You could get a 2.5x Weaver for around a hundred bucks.  It is parrallax is set at 100yds.  The Leupold 2.5x is even more compact than the Weaver but multiply that 100 bucks times 2.5.

Leupold's vx I/II 1x4 is only 9"...the weaver V series 1x3 is the same length...thats pretty short for a magnified optic, all things considered.  I've got a Weaver V series 2x7, and it's a very nice scope, but about 10 1/2" long.

Of course, there are the compact ACOGs, but they are $$expensive$$.

The rimfire special 2-7 is a great scope and has their fine duplex. Short eye relief, matte finish and if you find you need it, Leupold can set Parallax to suit. Pretty cool tool.

I'll have to check out the Leupold 22 I like the fine cross hair.
I was looking at the Simmons  Pro Diamond shotgun scope for the size, shape and reticle(fine with a diamond in the center).
What does the 50yd. parrallax do to your poi or poa at 100yds?
How will it screw with you at say 100yds.

You would probably not have too much of a problem with the 50 yd parr. setting at 100 yds.  You would probably tend to have more of it with a 100 yd parr. setting at 50 yds.
