Can anyone give me some feedback on the difference in "shootability" between these three comp/brakes?
SureFire Muzzle Break / Adapter 5.56mm ( .223 ) for FA556K Suppressor Primary Weapon Systems FSC556 Cavalry Arms Compensator Obviously a price difference between all three, and the first two will also take a suppressor. Will be using my personal AR for "off-duty" civilian schools, and not looking for any miracle pill, just wondering if anyone has experience with more than one of these and could make any suggestions. I've always just used the issued M4 w/ birdcage personally, so I have no frame of reference. Any difference on perceived recoil? Rear and side directed sound output (I don't want to piss off the guy in the next lane). Any other pertinent info. Thanks. |

I've only shot the Cav Comp. It's cheap and fairly effective, but if you are willing to spend more, there are better options out there. It isn't anything amazing.
That said, the PWS FSC556 is one of the better talked about comps, at least on ARFCOM. The Surefire seems like alot of money for what it is. |

I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. But seriously, I use one on a 16" upper, and I was surprised after the first couple rounds that the muzzle pretty much doesn't move. Very effective brake/comp. |

There are more effective brakes on the market, but the muzzle blast makes them absolutely abusive for both the shooter and those around them. When it comes to shootability and effectiveness, the QCB is the best compromise available. |

As much as I personally don't care for any brakes because of their inherent report and flash, since I shoot a fair amount in low light and with NV, maybe the QCB is worth my wife giving it a try on her new major bad ass upper, since she is substantially more recoil sensitive.
I have an A2, Vortex, Blackout, and QCB for her to pick from; of course, she can only run the AAC can with one of them....her weapon, her decision. |
