Ten years ago Colt had a reputation for using non-standard pins and triggers. Is this true now? I'm particularly interested in the 6920, but I may change that, so all info would be great.

Been a while back but Colt has changed to Mil Spec sized pins on the 6920.

It wasn't a "reputation", it was a fact. The 6920 now comes with standard FCG pins. They made the change around the time the 6940 was released.

Colt did use .170" pins to susposably keep BAD evil M16 parts (1.54") out of the the receiver back in the day when we all needed protection from ourselves

Its been about 2 years since they changed back to standard size .154 from the larger .170 size.It wasnt until they came out with the A2 sporter blue label lowers with the receiver block that they went to the larger size maybe 91 92 before that the old SP1 slabsides had normal FCG sizes although the front receiver screw was the larger and sometimes standard size.So I got a pre-ban Colt lower and sent it to M60joe.com and he re did my lower and installed steel bushings to make the lower take standard size FCG pins and took out the receiver block...it was worth the $400 it cost to have a normal size rifle that takes standard parts.

Good to know.

Funny - I came into this a week ago looking for a rifle-length, and here the best deal appears to be a Colt 6920, with enough money left over for a suppressor. Imagine that.
