Most people are going with the rifle length to cover the barrel and gas block (both carbine and midlength). There are a lot less midlengths covering carbines.
Here is a close up of a 9.0 covering a carbine length.  Here is another. I had thought you were looking for 16", but you didn't specify, so this is as close as I've got.

I'm thinking about an 18" with a rifle length Badger Ordinance hand guard. Anyone have pix of such a combo?

I just finished this upper for a friend a few days ago. The upper is a 16" Bushmaster barrel w/ CAR gas. I ground a gas block i had on hand down enough to fit under the YHM Mid length handguard.

Thanks for the replies. I installed a YHM FF LW specter rail. I used a Midwest industries gas block. It looks great and hopefully shoots good too. I will post pics soon.

Thanks! The top rifle is a LWRC 6.8mm SBR. The lower rifle is a Bushmaster 5.56mm SBR with a Noveske chrome lined barrel. Stephen |

 Bushy LW 16", Phantom and Armalite mid-FF tube. I'm ordering one of those JP Vtac dealies to replace the Armalite tube today. Hopefully it will be a little lighter. CHRIS EDIT: Nevermind. Saw you wanted to see rails...
