Do they really have to protrude THAT much?  I like the removable carry handle as a primary sight for one of my AR's....but I don't like the cumbersome, snag-prone, bulky thumbscrews that hold it to the reciever.

Not saying a throw lever is the way to go....but maybe something smaller or less obtrusive...

That would fit the description, but you have to remember to bring the allen key if you want to remove it.
