Hey guys,
I have an A4 style AR-15 that I think would look pretty cool in a C7A2 configuration. I have a CAR stock with the carbine buffer and spring, as well as a full A2 stock and the buffer and spring (etc.) My question is, if I were to put the CAR stock on to live out my Canadian Service rifle fantasy, would I just put the buffer and spring from the solid stock into the CAR stock? I feel like using the carbine buffer assembly, it would get beaten pretty hard. Too long, didn't read: Is there a difference between a buffer in a carbine and a full length rifle? |

Carbine buffer tubes/stocks are ALWAYS used ONLY with carbine buffers AND springs. NEVER use a rifle tube with a carbine buffer or spring.
On the same note, rifle tubes/stocks are ALWAYS used ONLY with rifle buffers and springs; NEVER use a rifle tube with a carbine buffer and spring. I honestly don't have any idea what would happen if you started to mix and match those parts. I suspect that it's possible for you to mix and match certain parts without problems or with only minor problems like feeding or reliability issues, but I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT! As a side note, since the C7A2 is a modern flat-top rail-rifle, you might get more results asking about it over in the Rifles, Uppers, Lowers, Barrels, and more thread. They're usually more interested in those kinds of rifles. This particular forum is more dedicated to the U.S. M16A2, and it's relatives sharing the fixed carry handle A2 design, than the Canadian C7 series of rifles. We should probably ask to get that cleared up in the thread description, or perhaps have a separate forum created for the "C" rifles as they really are a unique series. Edit: Spelling. |
