Bushmaster made a "M4 Dissipator" for the US Department of Energy in the late 1990s so their nuclear plant guards could mount the M203 on a full length handguard carbine.

No reason anyone with a lathe couldn't duplicate this arrangement.  I can mount the M203 on my lightweight Dissipator barrel, but have no need to do so.
