I have purchased a lower and completed it. I found it to be failrly easy to build. I did buy all of the right tools and it made a world of difference. I was going to just purchase a fully assembled upper but I enjoy the build as much as I do shooting and do not mind taking longer to get it completed. So, the question is do I build my own upper as well. I have read through the guide on this site extensively. I have a few questions:
1. Who has taken on an upper build and then had problems that resulted in a failure to get it complete? What were the problems you ran into? 2. Any really big gotchas I should be aware of? 3. If I buy a 16" barrel with a threaded muzzle is attaching a muzzle break as easy as screwing it in? Do I have to permanently attach it even if the barrel is over 16" already? 4. Anything else I should be aware of? I know I could just run out and buy an upper complete. It would even be cheaper as I would not need the tools. BUT, I would feel more satisfaction having done a complete build myself. I just want to make sure I am not biting off more than I can chew. Did others go through that when they first built? How did it turn out? Were you really satisified or do you wish you had purchased a completed upper? Thanks PR |
