| So I am building an Essential Arms lower last night. Of course I launched the obligatory detent somewhere into the stratosphere. When I tried to set the trigger guard roll pin, it would not go in all the way. Don't know what the problem is. This is a blind hole, so I can not just push it back out from the other side. There is just little stub sticking out to work with. Any ideas? |

sorry,
but it sure sounds like you have placed the roll pin in the wrong hole.... the one nearest the magazine well is a 'blind' hole.. and it is used for the front side of the trigger guard which has a detent to allow hinging of the stock trigger guard. a magpul guard has a set screw that enters this hole and holds the guard in place. the rear set of holes is where it should have been. plenty of instruction pics on the site..... |

This. Hopefully you can grab the errant roll pin with a vise grip and work it out. Discard the beat up roll pin and get a new one. Regroup and have at it again. Thank the stars that you didn't break off an ear. |

I did this same thing.
Ended up getting rid of the mil spec trigger guard in favor of a Magpul aluminum. In the end, I drilled the receiver and the Magpul and pinned both ends. I like the way it turned out. http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff208/Mr__Black/Junk/Ar-15g.jpg?t=1329526034 |
