I completed my first AR. It is a Rock River Arms lower receiver with a Palmetto State Armory LPK. The Upper is a PK Custom Upper with an 18 FN HBAR barrel and a YHM 5009-TJ hand guard.
http://yhm.net/images/YHM-5009-TJ.jpg My issues are that I have very slight side to side movement when I twist the upper and lower. Reading up on this, everything indicates this will not impact performance, though it does bother me. Would an accuwedge or epoxy help this? I would like to add a sling mount to front, but would like to leave the lower rail open for a bipod. Ideally I would like a QD release sling mount. Anyone know of a system for a two point sling that would mount in one of the hand rail holes? Thanks! |

The fit between the upper and lower can vary from very tight to sloppy loose . It doesn't effect performace. I usually do my builds and if there is any play i drop in a Accuwedge.
Your rail already has a sling mount in that front "Hole". Pick a single or two point sling with the quick attach and it will lock right into that hole. http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Magpul-MS3-Single-QD-Multi-Mission-Sling-BLACK-p/mag506-black.htm |

I took the AR to the range. It shot great. I did buy a 40 rounds of Tulammo because it was cheap and only thing in stock. I had 1 double feed and 7 duds out of 40. The Black Hills and Fiocchi ammo fed perfectly with no issues. I put about 150 rounds through it this morning.
I was a very happy camper. |

If you let those steel cased rounds sit in a hot chamber for a few minutes it'll "glue" it self in and wont extract easily. Otherwise steel cased is a great cheap option to plink with.
I've never had any issues with tullammo other than a casing getting stuck after leaving it in a hot chamber for a few minutes. |

I think that has been beaten to death, with no definitive answer. It was around 20 F out side and I was having failure to fire (soft strike) in the first 10 rounds while I was trying to zero the rifle. The soft strike shells I tried to run through my friends Remington 700 and he could not even close the bolt on several. Maybe I got a bad batch. But I won't try Tulammo again. I heard good things about Wolf Performance Ammo (steel aswell), so I find some cheap I'll try that. I am also trying Froglube as my lubricant. I had a hi-point JCP pistol that ran rough. I cleaned it and froglubed it. It runs smooth now with no issues. I also tried it on my Taurus PT840 pistol and had no issues of any sort. So I am going to try it on my AR. |
