The M4 handguards are wider than a standard rifle handguards.
The DPMS receivers are usually ok, but nothing special. Mega, and Stag (CMT) both make an outstanding lower receiver that is sold for $90-100. |

You could try a mid length gas system with standard A2 stock. That should be a happy medium.
The longer the handguard the thicker it is in the rear. The m4 guard is oval shaped, not round  Or you could try a dissy.  And DPMS lowers..........  !

i like dpms lowers but when i got them it was cheaper than rra/cmt
