I'm working on my first build and have gotten some conflicting information. I'm using a Magpul M93B stock and need to get a buffer and spring. I was told to use a standard rifle length/weight buffer and spring, but this seems quite wrong to me. I know the buffer that's in my 20" A2 is too long and won't allow the bolt to cycle. It makes sence to me to use a carbine length spring and buffer. I'd just like some verification of that. I'll be putting a 16" mid length upper on this. I don't think I need it, but I'm thinking I'll go with an H buffer to soak up a little more of the recoil. Would this cycle properly with both the 16" middy and the 20" upper attached or should I not try to mix them up? Thanks for the help. |

The ads for stock claim its a carbine one, so yes you'd need a carbine buffer and spring. H buffer would be fine for either the 16 or the 20. I think... There is an H buffer in the 16" mid I use and it runs fine. I've never heard of anyone with a 20"/rifle gas system and carbine with H buffer having problems. |
What upper/gas system are you running? Thanks for the input |
