[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Best Value Standard Lower

As the title implies, I'm building a kit based Varmint gun and need a lower receiver. Assuming the basics of reasonable machine work/ fit, 0.154" hammer and trigger pin holes, what's the cheapest or is there a reason not to go cheap? Shipping plays a part in the cost. Some will ship to my FFL for $5, one wanted $20.

JOEKEN has them for $79, many others run around the $100 line.

Stag, Mega, Superior Arms, Ameetec, LAR, LCW, and others I can't remember.

All these could be found for less than $100 shipped (+ whatever your FFL charges for a transfer) and are top quality.

I would stay away from Joe Ken.

MEGA, STAG, and the like are great lowers and can be had for little $$. I have built quite a few AR's on MEGA lowers with absolouty ZERO problems.

The fit and finish are excellent...

Done one with both a Stag and a Mega. Both were good builds.

I've used both Stag and Ameetec and have liked them both. Stags are cheap if I get them upstate near where they're made.

STAG.............it's made by CMT who makes another top named brand lower. I've built one colt...one rra...and about 12 stags so far.........for the money.........the stags are the best in my book.

I don't like Stag lowers....not better then Mega.

Best I've seen is DPMS....other then Armalite and Colt.
