I'm looking to build an AR and was wondering what companies make the best quality upper and lower recievers. I am looking for a flat top upper and a lower that I can have pictograms engraved on.

i would recommend CMT uppers. figure out if you want M4 cuts or standard in the upper. you can get one here:link

as far as a lower, it really doesn't matter which one as long as it's decent. i find this part to really be the least important as most are close enough to be in spec. just look around the next gun show for a stripped lower that meets your needs. good luck.

I have a couple of supior lowers that I got from RBprecision that look top notch, the match to the delton kit is damn near perfect. I have one of the pictogram lowers and it looks pretty good as far as the engraving/roll mark or what ever they are goes. Heres the link to them,

Im not to sure if that is what your looking for or not, however there is a guy here,Tom, that does custom engravings/serial numbers etc for ya on the lowers and im sure he'll do the upper also. Heres his thread in the EE.

I hope this all helps, I should have my lower put together tonight and hopefully post some new pix of the rifle all together in my thread here

Well good luck on your build, Hunter121

Flat black, not dark blue teflon
kick ass machining quality (done by the same guys who are machining the $800 drop forged M14 reciever) FYI

When it comes to servicability, most "mil-spec" forged uppers and lowers are equal(stripped).

Varying degrees of finish, slight differences in final machining, and logos are the main differences.

what does anyone think about POF lowers?

I have used Mega uppers and lowers for a couple builds and so far i like em. Fit and finish is good.

I have built 2 on Rock River Arms receivers, and 2 using DPMS. They both look and work great!
the Rock River fit tighter though.
Danomite!
