My first attempt at building an AR so it was fun.
Lower: Stag receiver, DPMS parts kit which included a Super Creepy Multistage Trigger at no extra charge, A2 buttstock from Model1 Upper: I prepped a nice used A2 upper and was ready for a bolt and 20” barrel and then realized that I might not have the right machinery to drill and pin a virgin barrel. Went to my LGS to have them procure a barrel and assemble the FSB. They had a complete used upper with an 18” chromed barrel for $400 so I grabbed it. $50 more to weld on a CT legal A2 muzzle brake. After the credit card cools off I will put a Geissele SSA trigger in but as it stands now I have $750 into it. I don’t think I saved any money but it was fun and for the assembly work I did do it was a good experience. Probably looks like every other A2 you have seen. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b398/mcracco/IMG_9617_mod.jpg |

*ahem* you mean a CT legal muzzle brake, right? No PC here. Just making sure you didn't post pics of an illegal build. Looks great. Enjoy. They make an a2 thats technically a brake and it sounds like thats what he meant.... |
| Edited original post to call the muzzle brake a muzzle brake. I tend to call the part a flash hider as that is the origins of why the part is on the rifle. To be honest the upper had a flash hider installed and was marked 'LE Only.' Before being sold to me that part was removed and the A2 style brake was pinned and welded on. No bayonet lug and no flash hider. GTG! |
