What is the big difference between a stainless steel barrel and just a regular chrome lined barrel? is the stainless steel barrel more accurate? cause i mostly see precision rifles with mostly SS barrels. thanks

The rule is yes a stainless is more accuarate and a chrome lined is more durable.

In reality a good chrome lined is more accurate then most shooters. Also a good chrome lined is more accuate then the ammo most guys are willing to buy.   Most shooters will never shoot either barrel enough to cause wear.  Chrome lined is more forgiving of poor care.

Barrel length does not add or subtract accuracy.  It is the shooter and the distance between the front and the rear sights (if shooting iron sights) which matters.  Optics and it doesn't matter.

I disagree.  Two inches adds a small amount of velocity.  A faster bullet won't move off target as much due to the simple fact that it will get there sooner.

Also, a higher velocity will increase momentum (mass x velocity), and so it won't be affected by wind as much.

EDIT: I am aware that the longer the barrel, means the longer the time the bullet spends travelling down the barrel, which increases the window for the shooter to screw up the recoil.  But again, the sooner the bullet gets to the target, the less the effect is magnified.

ahhh i cant make up my mind... the 16inch looks so good with the 13.2 handgaurd but i think the 18inch would be more accurate.. im gonna be shooting distance with this rifle so i want it to be right..

Forget about looks.  A lot of the AR-15's posted on here are for either home defense or people trying to look military/tactical.  If you're only using this for long distance, go with at least a 20" barrel.

The great thing about AR's is that if you change your mind  (or want a second option), you can just buy a new upper receiver.
