I have a A1 20" Colt barrel that I am going to send to US Anodizing for refinishing. It is going to be paired with a 1966 vintage square forged Colt upper. What color was correct for the barrel at that time, black or gray?  US Anodizing offers both colors.

Thanks for the help. I have learned so much from this forum.

The barrel is steel and won't anodize. it is Parkerized. manganese Phosphate would be correct.

I've had Victor re-phosphate a barrel.  It turned out great.
