I am looking to buy some  ammo cans to store some ammo and I was wondering if anyone knew how many .30 or .50 cal cans it would take to hold 1,000 rounds of 5.56 ammo.

Thanks in advance for the info.

Just 1 50 can if you are putting them in loose or on stripper clips, if your using 7 pocket bandoliers, it will hold 840 rounds.

Side line info:  A .30 can will hold 1000+ 9mm loose.

How about the 800 round 5.56 cans?  I picked up a couple of those the other day for a pretty good price.    Anyone know the best way to load them?
