My academy haul this morning. They get 9 but it goes fast. Today was the biggest shipment they have gotten since this started. They have m193 200/94.00 and m855 200/94.00 on a regular basis. I passed on the m855 today. Don’t need it. But these prices are being jacked up by retailers. Big retailers are still selling for a normal price. Ammo prices have not increased from ammo manufactures. This is all being done at the retail level.

WTB: ARMS swan sleeve for PRI gen 1 or 2 tubes. Sleeve is not notched on the bottom to fit gen 3 barrel but. Looking for any early PRI tubes and charging handles.

If you have academy in your area they get all kinds of ammo each day. M-W-F seem to be the best. Get there an hour early. Bring hot chocolate and wife or friend and hang out. The 5.56 will stick around half a day. The 9 mm goes to the first 10-12 people in line. Today I think there were 25-30 people and it looked like everyone got some. If I had to guess they had 60-70 200 pks. 20-30 100 pks and 20-30 50 pks. So everyone got something. They are cool at my academy. They come out about 7:50 and tell everyone what they have so if they don’t have shit you can leave or if your way back in the line and they only have 10 boxes you can leave. But 24.9 cpr plus tax is not 60 cpr like other places.

I got some 9mm in Greenville TX. 200rd boxes of 5.56 lasted to the end of the line, 9mm didn't. They still have 20rd boxes of 5.56. They will probably last until tomorrow with the 3 box limit.

Everyone else pushes closer to each other as If like saying oh man don’t run out don’t run out. But it runs out. They walk away head down. It’s just ammo. There is an old guy at academy every time I have been there. I always said if I got some and he didn’t I would let him have it. But today he scored too. |

Economically speaking with supply and demand....they would be stupid to not increase their prices. The big box stores, have increased their prices. Cabelas (probably the largest retail chain) used to sell Herters (Winchester) for 7.49 a box, now its $13. This is the largest buying power in the country and they have almost doubled their prices and sell out within a minute online. I own a small business, I work on purchase orders that go all year long and have been guaranteed with a percentage of an allowable increase throughout the year. I would bet that the largest retail chains in the county have similar contracts. No way in hell every online retailer is price gouging. Hell target sports, probably the largest online retailer, slowly raised their prices and are now .55 cpr for 9mm. Why you might ask....I’m sure they called the manufacture and said send me all my order for the remainder of the year now....this was probably in May when riots sky rocketed the price. Well guess what, since then they have slowly raised their prices....why you ask.....I would assume it’s new contracts. My buddy owns a gun store and he shows me his invoices from distributors then marks it up the same he always has and yes he has to sell everything for 3x or 4x what it was before March. I do not believe it’s the distributors making all the money....... |

Got 1200 m855 at San Marcos academy today. 47cpr. They had plenty. No standing in line. They had approximately 200-300 20rd boxes of Winchester white box 5.56.
They got no 9mm today. 9mm hits at least 2 days a week. 5.56 more often. There is no reason at all to be paying 75-80cpr for ammo. It’s stupid. If you don’t have academy bass pro and cabelas are getting it too. Attached File |

I do not believe it’s the distributors making all the money....... I have no first hand knowledge but numerous gun shop owners have mentioned their costs going up by leaps and bounds. If this was simply being done at the retail level, then these shops would raise the prices on their existing ammo but that has not been the case. Each box/case is marked based on their costs of that shipment. If last month's shipment was cheaper and that ammo is still on the shelf, those boxes are marked at last month's prices. You could do some asking around to verify all this. |
