Red dots are so much faster than irons it's ridiculous.
Personally, I'd put it on whatever rifle I decided to use for home defense. |

For a 20 inch rifle, I would go with a magnified optic.

I view a 20 inch AR as a distance/range/target rifle. Hence, a magnified optic. For home defense, a shorter 14.5 inch or 16 inch AR with a red dot would be my preference.

If its over 16" it gets a ACOG or 1-4x variable for me

OP you could keep you 20 inch in KISS mode and just run irons on it.

There are pictures in the A4 thread, of issued A4 rifles with Aimpoints on them. The question is, why not?

Yep If this is your first RDS, I would put it on the gun that you are likely to defend yourself with. That being said, I would have no problem throwing an Aimpoint on a 20" rifle. |
