I have an Aimpoint PRO, a 20" flat-top AR, and a suppressed .45ACP SBR.  Where would you put the PRO if you were me?

What is the purpose of your AR?

I guess I'm asking is the 0 magnification of the PRO really of any benefit over iron sights for shooting longer distances or is it best suited for faster aiming at short distances as I would be wanting with the PCC?  Or, is the PRO over-kill on the PCC?

Well if your shooting fast at close distance I'd go with the pro, but I have noticed it was easier to shoot from 100-300 with my 2 moa Aimpoint T1. I have not tried my luck past 300 with irons or a red dot as well.

I'm in the same boat with my A4  clone.  Tagging for information.

Red dots are so much faster than irons it's ridiculous.
Personally, I'd put it on whatever rifle I decided to use for home defense.

For a 20 inch rifle, I would go with a magnified optic.

To what purpose?

I view a 20 inch AR as a distance/range/target rifle.  Hence, a magnified optic.  For home defense, a shorter 14.5 inch or 16 inch AR with a red dot would be my preference.

If its over 16" it gets a ACOG or 1-4x variable for me

OP you could keep you 20 inch in KISS mode and just run irons on it.

Can you post a picture?

Yep

If this is your first RDS, I would put it on the gun that you are likely to defend yourself with.

That being said, I would have no problem throwing an Aimpoint on a 20" rifle.
