I've had this sight since around September of 2014. Only ever "deployed" the rifle maybe four times. Meaning, it was pulled out and held outside. I've shot on the range with it three times. I do load and unload daily and store it in a cushioned case with room on top and bottom of rifle. Rubber caps are always on when not deployed.

Now in every time I've used it indoors and outdoors... I have NEVER seen this before. Today I deployed it and I see this glaring red diagonal line from lower left to upper right. Takes up almost half of the sight. I deployed it the night prior (2 or 3am) no issue. This time at 7am, I see this. Here is an example picture:

This has NEVER happened before. I can move the rifle around and view it offset and see some red. That's always been the case. But never this line. Even straight on I get this no matter how close or far away I view it. Having it on or off doesn't do anything different either. Was hoping it was a battery issue (it wasn't). Light is not a factor either. I can see it in darkness and outside full sunshine. Easier to see with backdrop black or white colors (walls, etc).

Smack it against something like a clean piece of wood, shouldn't hurt or mar the sight at all but if its a piece of dust on the diode it, may knock it off, if so its unlikely to be an issue in the future, if its still there send it back to Aimpoint.

You've only shot it 3 times, yet "deploy" it quite a lot. What do you mean by "deploy"?

Try spending some time behind the trigger and optic. Don't be one of those guys that sits there and looks for anything and everything that could possibly be wrong WITHOUT actually using the thing and having the knowledge and experience to know what you're complaining about.

I see the red line. If it were anything other than an Aimpoint you would have gotten many intellectual responses like "buy an Aimpoint". So far all we have to work with is beating on it so give it a shot.

turn the brightness down a hair, its a reflection of an internal part.

it happens with my aimpoint and holosun, so i'm thinking it is just something inherent to a tube red dot.

not a big deal.

Yeah, but how often do you deploy yours?

I'm thinking OP may deploy more than you deploy.

I see the red dot but not a red line.
Some of you see a red line and some of us don't.  WTH?

It looks like a prism effect along the left side to me. I've not seen that on Amy of my Aimpoint's. I'd contact Aimpoint about it because it is not normal.

There's the dot on top the sight post. Way above it is a second dot, looks like a reflection. About halfway between them is a line running from about 1:00 to about 8:00.
