I just got a used CompM and am VERY dissapointed in the battery life (and brightness) using the 1/2 N lithium battery. Has anyone made a battery extension that would allow a either a cr2, 2-N cells or 2-AAA cells to be used. It seems like a 2-N extension would be very easy. 2-AAA's could use a side by side configuration with a slip ring for screwing down. Otherwise what are the options for either making the dot brighter or extending the battery life? Thanks, wwglen |

Hmmm, My used USGI CompM- although not as bright as compared to my ML2, is still rated at 1000 hr. Battery life(setting not specified) vs. the 10,000 hr. CET of the ML2/M2 models. Piehole-The Aimpoint battery extender does nothing to extend the battery life nor increase the dot's brightness. It simply holds a spare battery. Now there was an aftermarket double batt. module that does what wwglen is looking for, but appearently it caused overloads and fried the circuitry in Aimpoints(Guess that's why ya' don't see 'em too often). Inferno-Are you sure your's is not an Aimpoint Comp(Not M)? Aimpoint Comps are identical to the Comp M/XDs except that they were intended for pistols(race guns) hence the 10 MOA dot. Best bet would be to step up to the ML2/M2 for better battery life and performance or go for the gusto and pick up an ML3 or M3. |
It says 'CompM' right on it. |
Aw shit. I thought I had just gotten a smokin deal of the EE for a comp M or what I thought was the XD model. It has the flip ups and the wire retainers on it so I assumed the XD which I thought was the older one with the 4moa or 3moa dot.

Don't take too much stock in what I wrote. I have no idea what MOA dot I have. I know the other Aimpoints I've looked through have had smaller dots. I'm not even sure the box I have is the original. I got it used at a gunshow. It works great so I havn't upgraded to a different model. |
