Can anyone tell me what the difference is between these two sights. . .I looked at each of their specs and from what I can tell the main difference is that the M2 is NV capable.

That's the only difference, to my knowledge.
You could probably turn the ML2 down all the way and it'd work OK, never tried it myself.
