What is the best stock for the price? I like the MagPul UBR, but I am not quite sure it is worth $250. What would your recommendations be for around $100. This is my first build. I will also need the buffers and springs.
Thanks |
| A Magpul MOE and mil-spec kit is a good set up in your price range. |

the ACS is out of your price range by around $30,but i shopped around and found one for $115 with free shipping.i would absolutely recommend one.i havent gotten to shoot it yet because my build isnt finished.but im in love with the stock.
i went with the ACS stock and mil-spec kit from spikes tactical with the ST-T2(?) buffer.so far i have nothing but good things to say for both products. |
| I am not opposed to spend more. I am just looking for the best option for the money. The only thing I see that the UBR does, besides weigh more, is the cheek rest does not move. I like the buttpad option for my daughter. She has a youth .223, but I would like for her to hunt with a tad bit bigger caliber. My 25-06 and 243 are too long for her to get her eye comfortably up to the scopes. With my 68 and the collapsable stock on it now, she can. The standard RRA stocks are a bit rough for her. |

some people complain about the weight of the UBR. Yes it is heavy, but my rifle still does not have the barrel and it's noticably front heavy. I dont want to know how a lightweight stock would feel in my hands!
If you like the UBR, get it. It's only money after all. |
| I have the acs and love it. it has a great cheek weld and the added weight evens out a front heavy weapon. I think its right around 12oz. I dont keep batteries in mine but i do have ear plugs and a bore snake in it as someone always forgets to bring ear plugs. What ever you get make sure you are happy with it or you will spend more in the long run getting what you really wanted. If you dont you will end up like me with a box of spare grips and stocks. |

I will also need the buffers and springs. Thanks Do you prefer the feel of a "normal" collapsible carbine stock against your cheek? If yes, look at Magpul's MOE and CTR. Do you prefer the feel of a fixed A1 or A2? Then look at the ACS and UBR. I picked up a UBR a month back and swapped it out for an ACS on a carbine. I'm impressed enough that the UBR may become my new standard - it makes my pencil barreled 14.5" more neutral in balance when loaded. |

The very same kit I bought. I might have to pick up another kit for my new lower. |

Attempted thread hijack!
I'm seeing collapsible stocks being labelled as "Commercial Diameter" and "Mil-Spec Diameter" with the only explanation being 1.168" vs 1.148" Do they require different lower receiver dimensions to screw into? How come the A2 fixed stocks don't have this differentiation? |
