I know this is going to sound ignorant but...

I received a TA31F Acog as a gift from my cousin who is recently discharged from the Army (Bradly M2 gunner).

It was missing the screw and washer to mount it to the carry handle. I ordered this piece from Trijicon and put the Acog in the carry handle in both positions.

I decided that I liked the Acog flush with the rear sights and proceeded to screw it down. The screw at first turned easily (2 turns) then got real tight. The scope was not tightened at this point.

So I pulled it off and tried the screw in the one hole (the hole closest to the objective lens) then the other. The first hole threaded easily no problems. The second turned fine (2 turns) then got tight. I turned it 2 more times without a whole lot effort (but it was tighter) and decided to back it out.

At this point I realized that the threads had come out with the screw  I have never seen this happen before.

So to make a longer story short...what the heck can I do to remedy this???

Your cousin BOUGHT this scope from a gun store right?  Its not "left over" from service as something issued that he kept?
