I know this sounds kinda weird, but it seems like my DPMS AP4 LR308 has started throwing a wild round every 4-5 shots since I replaced the collapsible stock with a Magpul PRS. It usually grouped all rounds into a pretty tight cluster, shot all ammo
into an inch or less, now with the same types of ammo, I get one round that is approx 1.5 - 2.5" out of the group in every 4th or 5th round. I did replace the buffer and spring with rifle length ones from DPMS. I have also tried several different mags, same result. The only other thing different on this rifle now is a one peice gas ring, would either of these changes make this rifle throw an errant shot occasionally?
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Buffer might be the cause. What's the difference in weight between the two? (harmonics related)

The above may only apply if you're thoroughly cleaning your barrel regularly. Fouled barrel the case here?

Like the other poster said, maybe it's harmonics, but it could just be you.  Change the variables back from the add on parts and see what happens...

With the new gas ring and different buffer/spring, I think it might be locking up slightly different, like it needs to get broken in again.  I would make the buffer heavier, just cause its a good idea.  Pick up some tungsten weights, like buy an H3 buffer and swap the tungsten weights in to the rifle length buffer.  It might help consistency too.

Also, changing the buffer/spring will change the speed at which its picking up a round from the mag, which cause a variation in the action.  Might be mashing the bullet noses or something.

I was kinda thinking the buffer spring or something changing my lockup, may replace it with a Tubb speedlock or the heavier buffer seems like a good idea, but my round count since the stock change is only about 70-80, so maybe it does need a little more break in with the new parts.I really don't like the carbine gas system on a .308. It has  approx 400-450 rds thru it total and the last time I de-coppered it was about 200 rds back,I'll hit it with some sweets 7.62 and see how it does. Thanks for all the recommendations!
