Allright guys, I just wanted to consult the masses on this question, which AR mag should I get? I've read troys post and many others, Troy said the SA-80's were supurior, where I've heard they suck and that ramlines suck and the two I have work fine in my AR/Mini-14....what do you all suggest.

Joe

P.S. - no offense to troy

USGI aluminum 20 or 30 rounders and Royal Ordnance steel 30 rounders.

That's it, that's the list.

Let's make this a bit more accurate...

The #1 mags are in fact USGI 20s & 30s. If you want the best then look no further.

I would consider Brit Steel an "optional mag" in that it is perfectly reliable but its materials/weight make it a second rung magazine IMO. If you are willing to consider these then you might as well look at Thermolds (USA Manufactured only). They are the most reliable plastic mags out there.

Thanks guys.....only GI, RO and Thermold from now on...... also, do any of you know if there are anything larger than 20rd'ers for HK91s?

I am fairly certain they have 30s, but I can't attest to the reliability or the cost. It's almost tradition though to have 20 rounds for 7.62 NATO rifles.

JoeyA...
i remember seeing 30round, H&K 91, 308 mags in the shotgun news.... but this was in the late 80's/early 90's.  i know they do/did exist, but i have NO idea as to their quality/reliability.  GOOD LUCK finding one.  HOPEFULLY come sept 04, some one will start making them again, but that is a DIFFERENT thread.

Cheaper Than Dirt has 30rd steel G3 mags, will work in HK91, PSG1, and CETME rifles.  Not real expensive, not too many people with the rifles that use them (exception to the CETME).  I use alloy G3 mags in my CETME, they are light weight, and $3 a pc.
