I am thinking of getting a CMMG 14.5 Mid length barrel with a low profile gas block and a perm installed flash hider.
I have a stripped upper I would like to match the barrel up with as well a KAC SR-25 FF rail platform. Can I do this with the Flash hider perminently installed? Does the gas block need to come off to install the rial?

I proably will not install it myself, however if I bring all of the parts to someone who can I would like the job to be done without complications.
Thanks

Unless you use a rail that "clamps" to the original barrel nut, than yes your gas block will have to come off.   If your gas block is not a 2 piece/clamp on, than you will have to remove your perm FH as well, which involves grinding & welding, but it can be done, but I would have a Smith, or experianced "friend" do the instalation of the perm FH.

BTW. your perm FH will likely be destroyed, so find a "legal length" replacement.

My thoughts are confimed.  i will order the 14.5 with out the perminent pin, and have my smith do the deed. Will I be okay owning the 14.5 barrel as long as its not installed on a receiver upper or lower?

Yes you will be ok without it installed, but some people are a little cautious, and do not carry a SBR upper with/around a lower. If at all worrried,(to be on the safe side) when you are transporting the upper, just leave your lower at home, unless you have a pistol lower, then you are ok to install, etc.
