I'm a newbie here and this is going to be my first build.  I'm looking for some advice on a ar15 complete kit.  I was looking at the Rock River Arms CAR A4 Complete Rifle Kit, with Chrome Lined Barrel but it take 10-12 weeks to get.  If anybody can point me in the right direction to something similar I would greatly appreciate it.  I have a Stag Lower.

I also came across a CMMG complete kit but i've seen some mixed reviews.

Check out some of the vendors at the top of the page.  PK and Del-Ton have kits in stock and I'm sure others do as well.  Vendors that have stock are quicker at getting the kit to you than a manufacturer.

I see that you live in Kalifornia. Make sure to check on your local and state laws before you spend any money.

If you already have a lower, then all you need is a complete upper, a parts kit, and a stock assembly. You don't have to buy a kit.

Thanks for all the advice.  I've found that I can build a kit from PK Firearms for about $100 more but it will ship the next day compared to the 10-12 weeks directly from RRA.  Thanks again!

I just ordered one of the group buy kits from him today. Its a Stag kit with chromed barrel.  Kit should be at my door in 10 to 14 days. His service is great. Del-ton also has great customer service.

Delton kits are great, here is my thoughts I posted in a request similar to yours.
****************************************************************************
I just finished my second "official" AR15 Police Training class with my Delton Kit on a Superior Arms lower. As in the first class. I sat through the power point presentation with the instructor bashing "kit" built rifles.

There were 10 of us in this class. We had Colts, Armalite, and Bushmasters. Of course, I admitted from day one that I built this Delton/SA in my kitchen with help from the ar15.com forum. I have a free TruGlo Red Dot optic on it. I did change the grip to a rubber Hogue as it gets pretty humid and wet here in Illinois. I have a Command Arms Polymer 4 rail system on it to mount my light. I would not buy anything from Command Arms again. Ever. Poor service from their return department, poor fitting products, poor everything. Anyway, one of the "other" departments guys made the comment he wanted to be at least 3 or 4 shooters down from me in case my gun blew up........well, after day two of the class, this is how the "kit" gun did.

I was the only one to hit 9 out of 10 rounds at 200 yards. Most didn't even hit the target. Mine were inside of the 8.5 x 14 score section. I placed 1st out of the 10 on the qualification range. 2 rounds at 100 yards, 6 at 75, 6 at 50, and then 1 head shot past a hostage at 25. Doesn't sound too difficult, but.....you are running, going prone, kneeing, standing, and also doing malfunction drills during the course of fire as the instructor has setup your two magazines with "bad" rounds to increase your stress.

Almost all of the rifles had issues in the three day course except mine and 2 Colts. There were 4 Colts total. I didn't have any issues at all. This was the same experience I had in a previous training class where we did much of the same shooting. This is not target practice guys. This running, gunning, diving, kind of shooting that we might need to do on the street someday. It is a workout. It runs 600 rounds in 3 days through a rifle with mud, weeds, rain, sweat, blood ( malfunction and reloading drills in the rain suck).

Oh, yeah, and I am 20 years older than some of the other officers on the range that day.
By the end of the third day, the instructor finally said, "ok ok, I am impressed"
That was after a final drill of getting out of the squad, getting the rifle out of the trunk, loading, running to cover, shooting two sets of 5 bowling pins at 50 yards in 53 seconds. This also included a reload drill.

So what happened to the officer that didn't want to shoot next to my "Delton Kit"? He asked for my email so he could come to the next AR15 building party I have.

Anyway........do I recommend Delton? I would bet my life on mine.

+1 for del-ton
Also, Cheaper than dirt is running a special for a DPMS completed M4 upper for $399.  Its not chrome lined but if you keep it cleaned and dry then you shouldn't have any problems with it.

Edit:  Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY FROM BLACKTHORNE.  There complete kits are tempting but they are trash and their customer service sucks

The kit the OP is thinking of is the Fire For Effect kits.  All CMMG parts, which are great.  You'll be getting a 1:7 Chrome Lined, M4 Feed ramp cut upper receiver, MPI bolt, which are usually very expensive features.  The only issues with CMMG tend to be on the CS end now, so I'd get the FFE kit with confidence, as they're a great peice of gear, and would complete your existing lower very well.
DTI would also be a very solid choice, or just getting a Stag complete upper half, and gettinga CMT or RRA LPK (CMT = Stag, RRA if you want a two-stage trigger)

Since the OP lives in Kommiefornia, most of the kits being described are illegal for him.

Since you live in CA, you are still subject to the Assault Weapons Ban and need to build one around those parameters. Its a real lame deal but at least you ares still able to own them to some degree. Take a look at www.riflegear.com, they have a fair amount of individual parts and accessories to choose from along with the stuff to make it legal in California, also take a look here to be sure you understand the AWB http://www.riflegear.com/t-evilfeatures.aspx. Depending on what state your Stag Arms lower is in(stripped or complete) you could simply choose an upper assembly from your favorite supplier, snap in and go. Most all AR-15s are good, I prefer the ABC's(Armalite, Bushmaster, and Colt) all of which have been around and long time and have proven reliability. Unless you have specific desires please enlighten us

RRA has lifetime warranties on their rifles but I don't know if that applies if you assemble one yourself.

I doubt they will honor a lifetime warranty on home builds,  there are too many people out there that are idiots.

RRA's web site says their warranty applies to complete uppers and complete lowers (as well as complete rifles and pistols).

Get informed.  You are passing along erroneous information.

He already has a Stag lower and is good to go since this is regarded as an Off List Lower (OLL) in this state.  Any parts, other than the lower, can be purchased and shipped to CA. without restrictions.

The only other restrictions are the barrel must be at least 16" in length and the rifle must have a "fixed" 10 round magazine.  Many of the folks here are using the Bullet Button kit with a 10 round mag.  This setup requires a tool to remove the mag but does allow the mag to be removed for reloading.

There are other options involving the removal / replacement of the pistol grip.

The OP needs to check out calguns.net for additional information.
