Following up, I think I got this working. Pulled everything apart, re-cleaned and installed following directions from 3 different youtubes like I was 8 years old. Function checks seem to pass.

I've been out of the AR game awhile so I probably goofed something up with installation.

Yep, just the tip. Rounded. Not ovaled/elongated or any other weird shape.

Yes, I'd agree. Add the blocker, trim the RH to match the jig, install and function check.

Alright so been putting it off because having to cut a trigger is kinda lame**. However, decided to give’er a go and it’s trivially easy. I used the pics posted by @HKH as a reference. Freehanded this with a dremel. Stuck the trigger in a vise. I only had to take it back out once and hit that left side rounded corner again. I was extremely conservative on that part. Here are the bits I used, already had them around. ASD stainless lever blocker, G$ SSA. This was a first run Arc-Fire that I got lucky on and ran out of the box. Replaced the steel weights in the UCIW buffer with tungsten weights. 11.5” Noveske bbl. ROF is….fast.

The non-gay milspec selector levers will be here tomorrow.

**I also have a corn fire MARC that ran out of the box with an uncut SD-E.

The Arc-Fire does seem like a more robust unit than the MARC imo. I’ll be setting up at least 2 more guns this way.

Tested my 12.5" a little more today with the SSA-E X I cut. Perfection! Nice rate of fire with a YHM Turbo K, .052 gas port, and Super 42 spring with H2 buffer.

Range report.

Put the first mag in, ran a few rounds semi and all was fine. Flipped to frt and it fired one round and locked the trigger. Ejected that round and fired 10 or so rounds frt and locked trigger again. Did that a couple more times before the 40 round mag was empty.

Stuck a second mag in and shot about half and had a light primer strike. Kicked it out and emptied the mag. These were with my hand loads.

Swapped over to IMI 55 gr and it would fire 2 frt then the bolt would only be about half way over the third round in the mag. It did that about 3 or 4 times and I gave up. Temp was 20° and wind chill showed 9°.  I’m wondering if an H2 buffer might help that.

All in all I think it’s gonna work just fine, just gonna need a little break in and maybe tuning the buffer. Gonna lube it up good and also try some wolf gold 55’s. Worked fine in semi auto.

Welp, time to fess up.

While waiting on the weather to warm up I kept looking at my lower and the internals. Something just didn’t look right.

I got another lower and immediately spotted the problem. When I put the trigger spring on the trigger I put the front part of the spring on top of the front of the trigger instead of on the bottom. Dumb ass mistake. I pulled the trigger, put the spring right and reassembled.

Temp hit 64° this afternoon so it was time to smoke test it. Ran 100+ rounds frt and it ran like a champ.

I’m extremely pleased. One of my friends was at the range and I let him run a mag. He’s going home tonight to order one.

Just got and tested my AF with upgraded throw levers

Rifle- 14.5 socom barrel, carbine length gas, pinned front sight gas block, v7 inconel gas tube, used a cut Mil-spec trigger I already had in the gun from War Hammer Armament. H3 buffer and super 42 spring. Lubed with CLP (all I had in the moment)

60 rounds unsuppressed
90 rounds suppressed

No issues, hiccups or bumps. Fire rate was a perfect match with the Super Safety I had in prior.

Will probably get a V2 when they become available

Mil spec sized and textured. The included ones are skinny and smooth. They should be just the stock option, but it's a 30 dollar upgrade. You can choose between both sides being long (mil spec length) or long on the left, and short on the right for right handers.

Just installed the new mil spec looking levers. Went long/long. Feels much better. Would recommend. If I understand correctly these will be an option for the arc-fire v2 when purchased instead of an additional price/upgrade.

I wish they would make it a option to the current orders.
It kinda irks me to spend $250 and then have to pay another $30 to get the levers.
I want two more arc fires, but if it the levers will be a selectable option on the V2, then I will wait for the V2 to come out.

I am very thankful for the recommendations of those who are knowledgeable about these things.

One further thing to take into consideration: the size of your hands.

On my first ARC-Fire, I ordered the recommended mil-spec looking levers. My mistake was getting long/long. It was my choice; it was a bad choice.

My hands are larger than average. With the grip that I employ on my Magpul MIAD hand grips with the largest backstrap, the long lever on the right side pokes my hand a bit in the semi-auto position. I find it a bother.

So, on all of my remaining ARC-Fires, I ordered long/short levers.

That works better for me.

Anybody know what the ROF is on these? My shot timer registered splits at .14-.16, some as low as .10. That still seems low. I'm thinking maybe my shot timer was only registering every other shot.

Depends entirely on gas and mass. somewhere between 650 and 1000rpm is typical... could be higher with enough gas and low mass!

I don't think those screws will work. The width of the heads will interfere with the back edge of the milspec style levers, and won't be able to screw in.

The lever blocker is only necessary when using a Geissele trigger, or other triggers with a non tailed hammer. If you're using a Geissele, yes, you need a lever blocker. Without it, your lever will fall forward under the hammer, and won't be engaged by the BCG.

I put my Arc-fire on a PSA 10.5 JAKL with the AS Designs JAKL kit.

It ran great for half a mag but then started getting light primer strikes each second round when firing super safe.

No failures to feed and worked fine in semi.

I didn’t have time to diagnose the issue but next time I’ll change the gas block setting and if that doesn’t help I’ll try an increased power hammer spring.

Anyone have any insight into this?

None of my ARC-Fire installs have required upper trimming, on 3 lowers and... 6 uppers? 7?

Compared to Hoffmans, which required it more than half the time.

If I recall correctly, didn't some of the earliest ARC's benefit from having a shim added to the assembly to take out some side to side movement?

If so, are the current production examples in need of that shim or was there a minor production revision?

If there was a revision, how do you identify if you have the revised product vs the original?

Thanks

Apparently Brownells is doing a collaboration with Geissele for a Brownell's exclusive trigger. Minor change to manufacturing to allow a more friendly price point. One single stage trigger model and one 2-stage trigger model.

I'm thinking this is good for easing the pain a bit in trying to cut up a G trigger.

More details in this video.
