I did that once. Till the fun show rolled around and I got a collapsible.

I don't have a 16" upper (yet) but the first thing my brother did when he got his RRA M4 tactical entry was substitute an A2 stock for the shorty. Looks fine to me and it's much more natural to shoulder. Without body armor on the shortys aren't real easy for someone of average to large build to get a proper cheek-weld. I fully appreciate the purpose these were intended for but I personally have little interest in setting up a configuration that isn't 100% practical for my purposes. I don't have any pre-bans and can't get used to the idea of a "simulated" collapsible CAR stock. If it's stuck at the same length as an A2, I'd rather have the A2!(praying for the sunset to happen so I'll be able to get the real thing!) The ACE ARFX looks like a cool alternative too. These thoughts are strictly my opinions and aren't intended to rile anyone up. Hell I think they ALL look good, it's just a matter of what fits best to each individual. Unless someone else wants to give me the $$$ to set up my rifle, I'm picking out what I like!

How about an A1 on an 11.5?

Sweet little carbine. I got to shoot a 11.5" select fire Colt today. It had a tele-stock and a suppressor though.

Sure. Set mine up that way figuring if I run out of ammo and have to beat somebody over the head with it, the A2 would have a little more 'authority'.

That's how mine is set up. I couldn't see the value of a fake collapsible in a SHTF scenario. The cleaning kit in the stock is a must in that situation. The 16" barrel gives a little more mobility than the 20" with the same practical accuracy.

The A2 is too long on just about everything...  Now the ARFX, that's just right... [;)]

The A2 with a 16" upper is  a common factory set-up but rear heavy looking.

The ARFX looks great. I have 'em on both my Colt and Bushy 16"ers.

My personal preference is an ARFX (which is actually A1 length, I think) with a standard 16" upper, or an A1 or A2 on a 16" Dissipator...each just look more proportional to me.

Yeah, it's called the Bushmaster 'Shorty' and a ton of people have them.  You're not one of those dousche bags that thinks every piece on their rifle has to somehow match exactly with the military version(s) in order for it to be a real AR are you?

I have a "C8 forgery", A1/C7 upper with a 16" M4 barrel and an A2 stock. Tigerstripe camo.[;)]

No coffee yet? I was aiming this at prebans where people took a functional car stock and replaced it with a A2 or A1

Yeah, just had some green tea but doesn't seem to be helping much.  Good to know you're not one of those dousche bag types.

I have an A2 stock on an ArmaLite M15A4 carbine plus ArmaLite's buttstock extender.  I'm one of those 5'9" - 5'10" guys but with long arms.  Finally I disregarded proportionality and went with a set-up that feels right.

I use Heinz57 on my steaks. I use the A1 on my carbines.

Sweet!!  Though isn't that actually an original style M16 stock, with the solid rubber buttplate?  The rear swivel is what makes me question it's "A1" status.

I plan on building something like this, though with a 16" barrel (no SBR NFA hassle for me, I don't even like going to the DMV) & slickside upper, possibly with short triangular handguards.  The post-ban fake telestocks are like fake tits [puke] The ARFX style is OK though.

Yup, you're probably right.  I had a telestock on it, but in full auto it kept dying from bolt bounce so I pulled the stock and buffer off an old SP1 and put it on.  Ran like a raped ape in that configuration.  I later traded the 11.5 barrel for an M4 and put the SP1 upper back on that stock & lower for a more "vintage" look.

A1 stock assy on my 16" HB A2 Pre-Ban Oly Upper - feels and balances great with the M4 (oval) handguards!
