Is it leagel to do an AR style lower build as a home built rifle in California?
The BATFE could not tell me, and have not been able to speak to anyone in CAL DOJ.
Has amyone done it......help......

It will never be legal to assemble an 80% receiver to accept a detatchable mag as this constitutes "manufacturing an assault weapon"
Your best bet is to just buy any of the legal un-named receivers and wait for them to be named as AW's.
Then you can legally register it and build it any way you want.
