I was just thinking Otter Creek and their Mount on a 16 or 18” Lilja (assuming it shoots near or beyond claimed precision). Then everything else just pieced together clone-ish from there. That AA tgb would be perfect. Do they offer an adjustable version? Will their muzzle break work with OCM cans? Reads like it should! That’s a lot less expensive ETA: Otter Creek only advertises the OCM5 as 5.56, but Ive emailed and hoping to hear they’ll have a 6.5/6mm version at some point. ETA2: Otter Creek responded to my email asking if a 6.5/6mm variant was in their future plans with a simple “YES”. |

It put 5 rounds of AAC into a little over MOA, usually about 1.25 IIRC. I sold it because I swapped it over to a Craddock, not because it sucked. If it’s what your budget is, you could sure do a lot worse. |

X-Caliber, Proof, and Shield are all local to me, but a buddy has only had OK results with X-Caliber, Proof is over budget, and Shield Arms are an unknown for barrel other than what a buddy that works there has told me (it sounds promising). I'll actually be selling a low round count Patriot Valley Arms .223 Wylde barrel as this barrel is going into that rifle and I also have a build with the Geissele SPR cut rifled barrel. And yeah Craddock has always done right by me, never had a PVA, and I like my proofs but I’ve bought them all used. I like them but not enough to pay $800. Except they had some blowouts at Joebobs awhile back and I got a 12.5” carbon fiber Grendel for like 300 bucks, which has been good for solid MOA groups with mid-grade ammo. |
Mine is built. SOLGW 18" barrel with a Rubber City bolt in a Griffin gas pocket carrier. Haven't gotten to the range as kid #2 arrived a couple weeks ago. No telling when that will happen ![]() Attached File |

Got 20 rounds through mine today. 10 rounds of 105gr Hornady Black and 10 rounds of 108gr ELD-M. I'd have shot more but I forgot Allen wrenches and the groups were 4.5" high after adjusting my MK5 down the 5 clicks it has without pulling and resetting the turret. I had feed issues on 3 groups with 2 mags. Last group used a 3rd mag and didn't have any stoppages. All groups were at 100 yards 105gr - 6 round group. First 4 were spent adjusting windage and down the 5 clicks I had. Attached File 108 gr ELD-M Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Hopefully these fix my feeding issue... Attached File |

I have an 18 inch proof 6arc. It prints .25 to .5 moa consistently. Its absolutely disgusting. The best bolt on the market for 6arc is the rexus ultrabolt. There is no question. Ive measured all.bolts and the rexus has the thickest bolt wall and is overall way better and durable than say the jp |

I suppose its more tribal knowledge than it is on the internet. Shoot 1, clean (copper solvent patch and jag) Shoot 3, clean Shoot 5, clean Shoot 10, clean Shoot 25, clean Full scrub at 100 with nylon brush Only use a carbon fiber one piece cleaning rod. Only the direction of the bullet. And use a good bore guide. Between each copper solvent cleaning patch, let sit for 3 to 5 minutes. Run dry patches through until the blue goes away and patch is white. Blue is dissolved copper obviously. After this only clean the barrel when you notice a degradation of accuracy It genuienly takes about 80 to 100 rounds to properly fowl and break in a barrel fully |

Good shooting, but a larger sample size may be needed to know what the barrel actually can do. My buddy’s Proof 18”+1 is more of a 0.6-0.9 moa shooter across multiple 5 shot groups with me shooting. My 26” proof bolt gun isn’t quite a consistent 0.5moa shooter with factory Hornady, and I’m a sub half moa shooter typically with bolt guns. Sure some groups are tighter, but factory ammo (despite being very good in 2025), still has variances. I don’t think you need 30rd groups to see if a barrel shoots, but most will typically want to see at least 2 back to back 5 shot groups or a single 10shot group to account for variability. My 22” Bartlein 6arc (not a 0.25moa shooter), testing 108’s to 105’s. Fouling shots opened up the group for 105’s, but single groups are more luck than “consistently”, especially with factory ammo. Attached File That’s a break in process, but it’s rare to see any consistency in how PRS shooters break in a barrel. Even the barrel manufacturers can’t align on what’s the “best” process. |

Im aware that bigger groups are more preferred. No matter what, shes a good shooter though. The prs standard is more of an outline. You can do 1 shot cleans, tapered multi shots, it doesnt really matter. As long as the outline is done the outcome is the same |

Additionally the replacement barrel will take a few weeks to ship. I will say they were very apologetic on the phone and seem to be good folks. Just a small shop that is swamped with work. Here are my favs for off the shelf 6 arc AR barrels in no particular order. Note the blackhole and x-caliber aren't technically off the shelf (custom) but they seem to ship out within a few weeks/don't have crazy lead times. I'd try to stick with options that come with a headspaced bolt so Noveske, PVA Osprey, Craddock RTR, or X-Caliber would be my recommendation with a nod to the PVA Osprey for better machine work compared to the others. I personally have built two 6 arc uppers one from PVA and one from blackhole and they both shot sub moa 10 shot groups during the first break in session (50 shots). * Noveske 18" SS barrel with gas block, gas tube, & JP headspaced bolt ($540) (gas port on 14.5" is 0.074") * Blackhole Weaponry Custom AR15 Barrel - 6 ARC 416R Nitrided 5/8x24 threads (polygonal) (standard, SPR, or national match profile) ($380) * Rosco 6mm ARC Purebred (16" or 20") SPR barrel ($250) * Craddock RTR 6 ARC 16" Intermediate Gas (+$60 for headspaced bolt) ($350) * X-Caliber Custom AR Barrel 6 ARC 18" (add Rubber City headspaced bolt for +$110) ($387) (Total: $497) * Patriot Valley Arms - Osprey 20" 6 ARC barrel with rifle +2 ($399) (add headspaced Rubber City bolt for $125) (Total: $524) * Proof Research 18" (rifle +1) barrel with muzzle threads (with JP headspaced bolt?) ($489) * Proof 16" 6 ARC Rifle length (# 128664) ($480) |

| I've been thinking about building a dedicated 6 ARC precision build for a while. I had a Proof Research barrel on order, but cancelled it after a buddy had the barrel extension fail on his Proof 6 ARC barrel. He had only shot a few boxes of factory ammo. So now I need a plan B. Who's getting consistently sub-MOA groups with their 6 ARC, and who's the barrel maker? |
| Kicking around building a URG-I-ish upper in 6ARC. Does anyone reputable make a 14.5" gov't or SOCOM (preferred) profile barrel? I'm having trouble finding one. I see several in SPR profile but that's too thick for what I'm wanting to do I think. |

I think I bought one of the last barrels as I no longer see it listed on the website. |

My friends barrel ordered in the same day shows a lot of promise, currently shooting 108 ELD-Ms close to 0.8 MOA. I sent my barrel back to craddock a few weeks ago and am still waiting to hear back from them on what they plan to do about it. In the meantime I got a rainier 16" match barrel. It likes the 108 ELD-Ms as well but is definitely not a "sub MOA" barrel. I'm halfway tempted to try a 18" Shaw. Heck for $200 how bad could it be. Anyone have personal experience with a Shaw in 6ARC? Here are some groups if anyone finds them useful. Just got the verdict from Craddock. They are going to send me a replacement barrel. Will report back on how it does here in a few weeks. Keep in mind they are a small shop and it took about a month after I sent the barrel back for them to test the barrel and decide to send a replacement. Additionally the replacement barrel will take a few weeks to ship. I will say they were very apologetic on the phone and seem to be good folks. Just a small shop that is swamped with work. On a side note I got in an 18” ballistic advantage premium series today that was on sale at primary arms. Will report back my findings on this barrel here in a few days. I have not been able to get any response via email about status updates despite multiple attempts. I have however, been able to get one phone call answered about a week ago and they guy said he would get back to me with a status update but that’s it. The times I’ve needed them they were fairly responsive, and always helpful when they did. I had a bum Grendel barrel, actually two bum Grendel barrels. I got them to replace one then the replacement shot even worse. I’m talking barely on a sheet of paper @ 100. Tried everything too. Anyway I guess they said they had a disgruntled former employee feed the barrels in backwards, such that the round starts pinched but as the barrel slowly expands it slowly loses grip on the rifling. It showed, they shot like ass lol Now though, barrel #3 and it’s the lightest one, a 13.9 .625 gas block pencil Grendel. I had it out shooting ELDMs the other day and it put 5 into .88 MOA @ 100 and 3 inside an inch @ 200. That’s with a thick reticle 3-9 Leupold no less. So you may give them time and be cool, I’m glad I did, their barrels are great. |

They have a gov’t profile in 6ARC. |

I don’t own any 6 ARC Rexus barrels but I have several 6.5 Grendel barrels that were manufactured to specifications for the 6.5 Outfitters then name change to Rexus after the 6 mm ARC was introduced. Rexus is waiting on delivery of numerous barrels manufactured by Green Mountain to Rexus specification. Rexus show a 16” & 20” 6 ARC barrels in stock. These are rack grade barrels so it is luck of the draw but overall I think the QC is good. If you want a very accurate barrel I think you have to pay more. If you buy a cheap barrel and you get a turd it might be cheaper in the long run to buy a higher quality barrel. I shoot at my house or on Friend’s private property. I reload most all my ammunition and have a stock pile of components. If you are shooting factory ammo, traveling and paying range fees it gets very expensive to find out you got a poor shooting barrel. I’m seriously considering buying a Rexus 22 ARC when they are available. I’m leaning towards a 20” for mainly target shooting and for varmints. https://rexusoutfitters.com/shop-all/ |
