Hello,

So, I picked up one of Bubbasguns' 653 barrels off the EE, and am wanting to put together a nice little lightweight carbine, a training and beginners gun to offset my "uber-tactical-mall-ninja" rigs.

But I'm not sure whether I should build a 653 or 654.  Hopefully, I'll be able to build both, eventually, but as of now, I've only got the means to collect parts for one.  What would y'all build?  Why?

I'm in the same boat.  I've got a stripped 604, and I have an A1 on the way.  Probably get the FH attached to the barrel then test fit everything to see what I like best.  I'm leaning toward the 653 though.

ETA:  I voted for Pie, since it is my birthday, I'm single, and I can't make up my mind.

Definitely Pie. If it really matters, I prefer slickside carbines.

I am pissed at myself for not buying one of those scopes when they had them.

eta: I voted for the 653

I would build a 651 and a 723.

So far, looks like 653 is in lead, followed closely by pie!

Let's let it run a bit longer!

I'm happy to report that pie will definitely be consumed, no matter what I decide!

Pics for inspiration:

Augee, build a 653; then, and only then can you have your pie and eat it too.

Doesn't look right on the ACU poncho liner...

Get yourself an OD one!

Ok, Ok, next time I'll use either the OD wool medical blanket or the woodland poncho liner. I was really trying to use a background that was a bit on the lighter side so the guns would stand out a little better.

Nah, next time just send the guns to me, I'll dispose of them properly.  Then you won't need to worry about contrasting backgrounds.

Seriously, though, love your 653 clone, pretty much what I want to make mine into.

Build whichever type of upper you come across first.  Either one will be a sweet rifle.
