To the average person, nothing.

So, the question in reverse, is .556 ok in a .223 bolt type platform?

Not recommended.

5.56mm and .223 are fine in 5.56mm rifles.

.223 chambers are a little tighter and the higher pressure of the 5.56mm round could cause a boom.

Straight from the Oracle:

5.56mm - NATO/Wylde Chamber OK

.223 Rem - NATO/Wylde/SAAMI Chamber OK

5.56mm + SAAMI Chamber = KB
