I am looking for a .45 cal muzzle brake for my .45 Oly AR project. I live in CT where we cannot have a FH unless its on a pre ban lower. Also, what thread pitch is used on the 45 barrel? HELP>>>>
any thoughts would be great
thanks,
H

I would suggest you look through the Brownell's catalog. They have a large number of muzzle brakes that are intended for IPSC-type pistols that will work very well on a carbine. You may wind up getting your barrel re-threaded or re-thread the brake.

I did this with a 9mm SMG that I use for competition. The brake on it is an EGW which was made for 1911-style pistols.

We regularly install the Shrewd version which is 5/8 x 24. These require opening them on the lathe, though. Brownells' offers the KDF (IIRC) that is a ready made .458 that uses 5/8 x 24 thread as well. Vais makes one that is 5/8 x 32 if memory serves.
