What does this do the original won't? If I lightly bump my rifle while the bolt is locked back it slams shut, will this help that problem?

Cut you bolt catch spring.

A lighter bolt catch spring as Dave N mentioned will allow for a better lock up and should clear your problem.

It really depends of the BC spring hole depth. Two won't hurt it for 5.56 operation.

Took 2 loops off and my bolt stays back like it's suppose to.

That solved my issue too. Stays open everytime now, yeah.
