I'm thinking that with the booming popularity of the DPMS 308 it won't be long before it will have to have it's own forum like the AR-10.

ETA- I'll add pics of my DPMS/JP Rifles .308 as soon as I get it finished.

ETA- Here it is:

DPMS AP4 .308 16inch bbl
Versa-Pod

Replaced the grip with a hogue since I fell in love with the one on my rra. Also added a rubber buttpad which helps with recoil and stays firm against my shoulder.

Tango Down rail cover's, I would like to do more to the rifles but I am stuch on what to do, which optic would be best for a rifle like this...ect..ect

I guess this is as good of a place as any for my cherry poppin' post hrough
http://www.hunt101.com/img/423620-big.jpg

I've got a lot of stuff rattling around in my head about what I want to do with this beauty.

Firstly, I've got the Panther grip and a deflector on the way, and I've already installed an ambi-safety.

Further down the road, I'm looking at improving the trigger pull & creep, which is abysmal.
Then I'm going to get a machinist friend involved, and we're going to trim the barrel to 20", turn her down to about .80, and maybe add some flutes. This should lighten her up overall and make her feel a little less front heavy.

A carbon fiber handguard would be a nice addition at that time as well.
That aluminum feels like it could get cold in January.

I'm as green as they get with regards to AR's, and I'm glad to find this place!

Coopmandu --

Have you tried sighting in your LR308 AP4 with that LMT rear sight?  How far out did you have to turn the front sight to sight-it-in at a reasonable distance (50 or 100 yds)?

I don't have an AR-15 removable rear sight to compare with my AP4 sight.  However, I'm pretty sure the rear sight that comes on the LR308 AP4 has a shorter base to compensate for the larger upper receiver size (due to the larger bolt diameter) with the standard A2 front sight that comes on the gun.  I'd like to know if the AP4 can be sighted-in with an aftermarket AR-15 rear sight without having to unscrew the front sight so far that it falls out of the gun.

I did a rough 25 yard zero before our COF and had to turn it out two complete revolutions to get it to poa.  And then I sighted in the aimpoint.  I'm gonna bench it this weekend and see exactly where I'm hitting though.

That is a seriously sweet looking stick you have there!!!  How well does it shoot?  I've been thinking of building an AR-10 be it Armalite or DPMS for my son for when he's old enough (OK, so he's like 10 months old but I'm not one for procrastination ) and this looks like it might be a good choice to go with, especially given DPMS reputation for extremely good accuracy.  If it's not too much toruble, could you list the components you used on this rifle?  Thanks!

Another thing, you see a lot of aftermarket parts out there for the Armalite but how about for the DPMS rifles?  What's interchangable between the wo models, especially concerning the handguards?  Any idea if say a FF handguard like a Troy or YHM made for an Armalite will also work on DPMS rifles?  Thanks

DPMS LR-308T (18" bull bbl reprofiled to med contour and threaded)
Magpul PRS Stock
SWS Rail Forend
RRA Trigger
ERGO Grip
Larue SPR-S Mount
Leupold 3.5-10x40 M1 LR Mil-Dot
JPoint on Laure Mount

It shot 3/4 MOA out of the box.  It didn't "need" all that crap I put on it to shoot, but it's been a fun process!

I just got back my upper today.  I had to send it to Randall aka AR15barrels to have him install my BO handguard.  I ran into some issues with it, so I figured I would let an expert do his thing.  I am planning on using Norrell's OD and black on some parts.
