I just picked up a romak 991, the guy I got it from did a horrible job converting it to take hi cap mags. My question is if I get a trunion, rivet it back into the reciever press the barrel back in and pin it would the head spacing be ok.

You might get lucky, but you must check the headspace and you should be prepared to adjust it and install an oversized pin.
