Send the kit back if it's too badly pitted.

Yugo AK's are totally different as far as parts swapping with other AK's, so no other country's barrel is going to work.

hmmmm a standard ak barrel can't be milled to fit a yugo receiver?

templar i was thinking about this also
i was told that the yugo has a 19mm trunnion
so what if i was to use a chicom chrome lined barrel then just remove alittle and reshape
the gas tube to fit the shorter gas system

will that work ?

Whatever you do, don't buy one from GONG at gunsamerica. I made that mistake and what he described and confirmed as an "Excellent Bore" turned out to be more shot out, and pitted than the relic that came with my kit. GONG misreprented the condition of the barrel and refused a refund even when the ad claimed a 3 day return policy.

wonder if it's possible to order a NEW barrel from a barrel manufacturer who'll make a chrome-lined one..... custom cut to yugo specs. how much you think that'd cost? $200?

or just order another kit or two, since they're only 90 bucks.

Found this on Gun Broker while shopping.

It was oddly listed as "yugoslavia"

Bore in Excelent Condition, Yugo Barrel & trunnion.

$90 to start, $95 "buy it now".

www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=37591087

Hope this helps, buying a custom barrel CO$T$ big-time.

FYI Jeff11 on gunbroker looks like the same ad as GONG at guns america. The description he has for the yugo barrel is the same one that took me at gunbroker. When you get the barrel you will find it is likely dark and pitted and Jeff Kim in Beaverton Oregon will not stand behind the sale or the Excellent condition claim.

Thiefs often steal someone elses ad as well as your money. Be wary of clone ads.

I've never bought anything from Jeff11, but he has a A+ rating with 1190 posts in his feedback.

In my experiance it's the guys with a rating between 0-20 who can be trouble. YMMV

It's certainly possible and I don't want slander any honest business.  Next time I will get a return policy in writing and not buy anything from someone who says "what you see is what you get, all sales final" This guy actually tried to convince me that an "excellent bore" could also be a dark bore. A light touch with solvent started immediatly removing the cheap paint he used to make it look good in the picture. I actually think he painted the bore too in an attempt to conceal the condition.

Never again without first inspecting an item, especially when someone is asking a premium price.
