I noticed today on one of my Romy rpk's AES-10B that either the century slant brake or a used muzzle nut  and an AMD-65 snake brake are the only one that will fit the others I have tried are way to tight to turn . And yes I know its counter clockwise... What do you think the issue  could be? I have tried numerious muzzle nuts, a trobuk style, USA made 74 brake and they are all extremely tight. Do you all think I need to chase the treads w/ a 14x1 LH die?? . The treads dont seem to be damaged in any way. Thanks in advance.

Do the muzzle threads look like bare steel or are they covered in finish? If you happen to have a die you could clean up the threads with it but you might make them too loose. I would clean the threads with a small steel wire brush and some brake cleaner spray and see how that worked. Otherwise, if the brake you want to use can't be threaded onto the barrel by hand, put a little valve-grinding compound on the threads and thread it on and off until it gets easier. Clean everything up and forget about it. The drawback is, the brakes that fit before will then be too loose. So, you actually might have a pretty good thing going if the brake you like has a snug fit.

Had the same problem. The slant brake that comes stock for the AES-10B had no problem coming on or off. Then I ordered an aftermarket 74' brake for it. It'd be fine until I got halfway in. Just clean it up, like said, and it should work. Just don't force it on!
