I don't want to spend the money for an Aresenal. but I would like a above average quality rifle for about $450. Any reccomendations are appreciated.

if you want an AK thats not pretty but will shoot, check for a cheap rommanian WASR (~$330 now)

got mine from aimsurplus.com

EE is another good place to check for AK deals

Look around for a nice Vector, try Atlantic Firearms ...

WASR ~$330
Shipping ~$20
FFL fee ~$25
G2 trigger upgrade w/ shipping $48.94
Total ~$423.94

Arsenal SLR105 $430 from Newton Firearms + FFL + shipping ~$475
$150 to add no ban features back on the SLR

Tough call.

Vector, American Arsinal (Global trades), Vepr ($550ish but well worth it). I have a Romanian and to be honest it is fun to take to the range and shoot but in my opinion the quality does not even
aproach the Russian, Bulgarian and the kits that Vector uses (I think they are polish and hungarian). If you want a classic looking AK I would go with the Vector or the American Arsinal if you want a shooter and a self defense rifle I would go with the Vepr. Just my opinion.
