what is the little lug on the bottom rear of the side on the slide for? it seams to contact the lower rail{opposite of the ejector rail} when the slide travels over it. it pushes the slide up about 1/64" . should I remove stock to make it a smooth transition on to the lower rail? what is the purpose of this . is it just to keep the slide from cocking when it is in the closed position?

Sorry, dude I can't figure out what your talking about.

Maybe some more detail?

is the lever the safety?  or on the bolt carrier?

are you talking about inside the receiver or outside?

is it on the bottom of the receiver toward the back or the of the receiver?

I know the rails are on the inside so I'm guessing your talking about inside the receiver?

I'm lost too.

Can you ask using these terms:

bolt carrier
bolt
upper rail (on the receiver)
lower rails (mounted on the inside...one has the ejector)
safety selector
rear tang (stock mounts to this)
fire control group (hammer, disconnector, trigger, springs...)
recoil spring assembly
beer
sammich

Sorry Norm,
let me simplify.
I had a typo. lets try this.
there is a little lug on the rear bottom of the bolt carrier. it is on the side opposite the ejector . it looks like it is supposed to ride on the lower rail. when it comes over the lower rail it pushes the bolt carrier up, about .015-.020 ".  am I supposed to cut this to fit so it rides smoothly or is it supposed to push up a litte on the bolt carrier? then the sammich gets caught on the canuter when i push it back and forth. too many beers and the sammich gets caught.

As a general rule you should not have to grind on the carrier. The carrier has a slot in it that rides on the upper rail, and a feature the rides on the lower rail.

When the carrier gets pushed up by the lower rail, does it bind up the carrier from sliding?

Also, if you look at the lower rail, is it bent upward? This is the most likely problem if I understand you correctly.

And lastly...any way you could shoot a pic and point directly to the problem?

Dang, I need a beer and a sammich...

the lug your talking about trips the auto sear and isnt needed for a semi rifle
grind it off if you want

I don't think so... the lug should not interfere with the lower rail... on an auto gun the lug still rides on top of the lower rail, and the sear sticks up thru the rail.

(stated humbly, cause Candyman knows his shit )

thanks dude,
i knew it was probably something like that. It was just hitting by about .015. i already trimmed it of in a mill.  it is buit from a flat and I tig welded the lower rails in, so its a given that something's going to be out .015-.020 thou.  and who said anything about semi auto?
