I'm interested in buying a VEPR in 7.62, what can you guys tell me about the positives and negatives of the rifle?

What I know...
1) RPK receiver
2) Has side optics rail
3) Finish is better
4) Heavier than most Ak's
5) Takes hicaps
6) Funky/hi quality material stock
7) Supposedly more accurate (anyone know about this?
8) Windage adjustable rear steel sight
9) Slightly more expensive than a parts gun, less than a full custom build

Most of what I know, I found here:

I just found the answer to my questions in another thread.  So I guess if you OWN one, please give me your impressions.

Balzac72,

I own a VEPR in .308, it has a 20'' barrel and yes it is heavy, around 9#. Having said that it shoots pretty good with my best five shot group at 1 inch at 100 yards scoped, using some Black hills 175 grain HPBT stuff. I never have had a jam and I usually shoot plain old surplus; South African, South American, and Portugese fodder.  The rifle is very solid and totally reliable. I have not owned or fired a VEPR in 7.62x39 or .223 so I cannot comment on how well those shoot.

The only thing I really do not like is the 10 round magazine, however I know they can be modified to accept 20 round M14 or Galil mags. I do plan on owning VEPR in another caliber some day because of how well I like my own in .308.
