| So I got back from the field today and waiting for me at home was my TWS Dogleg top cover I've been waiting months for. I go to install it and everything is going smoothly until I try to put the pin in that holds the top cover on the AK. At first I couldn't get it in at all because of the leaf spring. Then I remove the leaf spring and attempt to put the pin in that way. It goes in but unfortunately the ridges along the front part of the receiver keep it from going in all the way and the c-clamp won't go on correctly. I am now at a loss as to what to do. Has anyone else run into this issue? How did you correct it? Thanks in advance... |
| I had the same problem if I understand you correctly. I took a small drill bit and carefully reamed out the hole so the pin would fit. I didn't want to make the hole too big so I had to use a hammer to get the pin all the way through. Hope that helps. If my answer isn't what you are looking for you'd probably have better luck on answers in the TWS dogleg thread http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=56&t=111659&page=67 . |

Remove it for initial fitting and to adjust your hex screws, but make sure it ends up in there. With the leaf spring, the C-clip is really superfluous. The tension of the leaf spring will hold the dogleg in there so tight that you will need a punch and hammer to remove the pin. Another thing I found is that you want to put the head of the pin on the left side, because the gas tube take-down lever can interfere with it. If you are absolutely set on installing the C-clip, then you will need to remove some of the material on your rear sight base (where the curve is) so the head of the pin can sit flush against it. Apparently some sight bases don't have this curved slope and so won't require this. |
