Still working on rifle ......after a much needed brake.
 I have the world's most unmovable upperhandguard. I finally managed to get it to fit, and the damn wood on the Upper HG is offset. By this I mean it looks like someone tried to take off the wood and quit after it budged a centimeter.. This thing is STUCK! Any tips you guys can give to help out a fellow AK member to get my handguard properly placed on the gas tube.. Cause right now I am stuck do to this situation. PS> Have no vise that I can use at the moment. |

Spray some lube around the ends,wrap the whole thing with a rag,use a cresent wrench on the rear end of the gas tube while holding the wood with your other hand.It usually works after about two beers.

Drop it in the oven on 250 for a while. I did it tonight on a polish. It took several tries but I finally got the thing off.

That's what I have a polish handguard. You had to put it in the oven 7 times!! |

A large crescent wrench and a little muscle will turn it off or straighten it out so its even. use the wrench on the rear section that has flat the sides.

Yup, what he said. I sometimes also need to take one of those pieces of rubber sheet that people use to open stubborn jars to get purchase on the handguard with my hand. |

I twisted a E. German upper handguard from the gas tube barehanded. Same with a Russian type III.
Bulgarian/Chinese/Romanians are a different story... |
