I have an Ak build (Bulgarian SA 93 parts kit) on an Ohio Ordnance receiver.
I was shooting it yesterday when I noticed the bolt would stay back when I loaded it. It fired with out a hiccup except with the promag. Any ideas? Is it the springs? Lousy build? The guy that assembled the gun for me was a novice, so I sent it to a guy in Arkansas to fix it. |

A little more info:
Just about every AK made will hang up the bolt if you ease it forward. This is just the spring force of the hammer pressing on the bolt and bolt carrier. A slight bump on the bolt handle will close it. In any case, there's no reason to ease an AK bolt forward when loading. Pull the bolt all the way back then LET GO and let it run forward on it's own. "Riding" a bolt causes failures to feed. However........ If the bolt is sticking open when it's fired, that's a different story and you have a serious problem that needs to be checked out to find the reason. |
| Lube the entire bolt, rails on the carrier, top of the hammer that contacts the carrier, and the rails in the reciever.........I just started using a product called Rand CLP and my action is literally like its gliding on ice......I cannot believe how smooth it is.....look them up, you can register for them to mail you a free sample on their site. |

I've used OOW receivers with tapco G2 triggers. Of the 6 I built, all of them required taking some material off the hammer where it rides against the BC to get them to work without hanging up. Tapco makes their AK hammers a bit over sized (tall), so that they will work in about any receiver with some fitting. I think the holes in the OOW receivers are just a tad high as well which exacerbates the problem when using both. If the BC is hanging on the hammer excessively, I'd grind a few thousandths off the hammer's face, putting a bit of a radius on it as well. Lube it up and you should be GTG. |
